I Love Randy Jackson’s Presents America’s Best Dance Crew

Randy Jackson\'s Presents America\'s Best Dance Crew

I love watching MTV’s (me watching is a rarity these days) Randy Jackson Presents American’s Best Dance Crew (Dang that is a long A$$ name ūüėČ . (Sidebar: this is the only competition show I watch… No Idol, no America’s Got Talent, No So You Think You Can Dance et al.) As of now, I do not have any favorite dance crews, but I am not feeling Fanny Pak.¬† I do think SoReal Cru is pretty good and the Detroit Crew was also good (yay for the deaf dancer.)¬† I am looking forward to the rest of the 2nd season.

ASSID, Detroit Dance Crew

SoReal Cru, Houston Dance Crew

Fanny Pak, LA Dance Crew

I enjoyed hearing the heartfelt back stories of the dancers and the crews.  I wish all of them best and I hope they can parlay this show into something very successful.

Which dance crew is your fave?

I Love Maroon 5

Maroon 5\'s \

I love me some Maroon 5.¬† Last summer I was rocking this album on a, seemingly, endless loop, so I was excited to hear about the release of the¬† Deluxe CD/DVD of “It Won’t Soon Before Long”¬† I loved this album because of the 80s elements, sexy lyrics and soft ballads.

I love the idea of Maroon 5 and Rihanna partnering in the song, “If I Never See Your Face Again”.¬† I did not even realize that Maroon 5 did a remix (kinda) with Rihanna. (Sidebar: I have been super, duper busy lately, rendering me unconscious to popular cultural happenings.)¬† I will say that Rihanna does not sound half-bad and her style and makeup (FLAWLESS!!!)¬†¬† Adam Levine is definitely a looker, which adds to the mystique of the band.¬†¬† Dangit, I am still PO’ed I missed them in concert last year.¬† And the upcoming tour date to my area is not even convenient.¬† Damn you, somebody! LOL No one to really blame.

I will be picking up the Deluxe CD coming out July 8, 2008.

Party All The Time

Hey Pumps And Gloss-y Ones,

As many of you know, Mix Maven loves the shimmer and glimmer, which is one of the reasons why I love the Holiday season. Many of us will have many shindigs to attend, which means we have to be looking good. (Please make sure to acquire appropriate attire for your parties. For example, if you are going to a formal church banquet, no one should have to accidentally see the crack of your buttocks.)

I like J. Crew and I think this store is a good place to find classic, tasteful looks for any occasion.

I found this wonderful dress in the clearance section of the website. The empire waist is flattering on most figures. Pair with chunky pearl necklace or white gold or sterling silver with a solitaire pendant.

JCrew Sophia Silk Dress in Deep Forest

I like this dress. This J. Crew Silk Taffeta Dress in Charcoal is for ladies that are not too busty. (If you are busty, back away from this dress right now!!) What about pairing this dress with blue or olive leather opera gloves for a pop of color?

I am totally in love with the Black Betsey Johnson and Kelly Green Maggy London shift dresses. The sequins brighten up the Betsey Johnson dress. Most, if not all, body types would look great in this style of dress.

I adore the layered box pleated-collar because it creates visual interest to an otherwise plain dress. The silk chiffon is glorious and looks chic and comfortable. This dress is also figure flattering and great for the petite ladies who are a few months pregnant.

If you get bored with all the carols and other holiday songs at the soir√©e, ask the DJ to play “Dumb it Down” by Lupe Fiasco …. great message in the song!!

My new favorite song!!

Tis The Season to be Jolly,

MONDAY FLASHBACK

I heard “Goodbye Love” by Guy on the radio late¬†the other¬†night and it made me think of this song.¬† I don’t know how true this is, but at the time, I heard when the Guy reunion initially didn’t work out, Teddy Riley gave this song to Blackstreet.¬† Here’s “Don’t Leave Me.”¬† The Guy reunion worked out after this and the only song I remember from that project is “Dancin,” which I really liked.

MONDAY PRAISE

A friend of mine once said “CeCe Winans has a real connection with God because it just shines through in her music.”¬† Amen!¬† Here is one of my favorite songs by CeCe – “Alabaster Box.”

Pumps and Gloss

“Alabaster Box” is based on this Scripture:

Now one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, so he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. When a woman who had lived a sinful life in that town learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume, and as she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.

When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is‚ÄĒthat she is a sinner.”

Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.”¬†¬†¬†“Tell me, teacher,” he said.

“Two men owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.¬† Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he canceled the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?”

Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt canceled.”¬†¬†¬†“You have judged correctly,” Jesus said.

Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.¬† You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet.¬† You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet.¬† Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven‚ÄĒfor she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little.”

Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

The other guests began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”

Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

Have a Wonderful Week!
