Nothing

Nothing.

There is nothing you cannot do.  I know it sounds easier said than done, but think about it.  I mean really think about it.  Despite any trials, difficulties or doubts, there is nothing you cannot do.

But you must have faith.

He (Jesus) replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”  Matthew 17:20

“Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1 NIV)  If you have goals/dreams and the faith to sustain you, there is nothing you cannot do.  Nothing.

This does not mean go on American Idol when you cannot carry a tune.  I refer to realistic goals that have been pushed to the side for any number of reasons.  I know resources are hard to come by.  You may be petrified.  It may be difficult.  You may be exhausted.  You may feel that you do not have the time or ability.  All the reasons and excuses in the world do not negate the fact that there is nothing you cannot do.

May your faith in God and yourself free you to strive for greatness!

Be Grateful

Dear Pumps & Gloss Friends,

Jennifer Hudson After Win

I am very pleased with Jennifer Hudson’s Oscar win, as well as her other triumphs during this award season. I am glad that she won the Golden Globe, the first of many awards. I was also pleased that she acknowledged and thanked Florence Ballard, one-third of the Supremes whom her character, Effie White, was loosely based. (The operative word is loosely.)

We all know Jennifer’s story. Some say she was ousted too early on American Idol. According to Hudson, after leaving AI, she was not offered a record contract or career support, and had to rely solely on God for help and strength. That is why Jennifer is so grateful for all her success because she put all of her trust in God. She auditioned, was rejected, and then, after all that, she received the part that put her in the history books as the third Black woman to win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. As she looks back over the past few years, I am sure is she grateful for her American Idol experience for all the trials she faced, which taught her perseverance and faith.

We should always be grateful for our success, meaning not taking it for granted, as well as trials. Sometimes, our trials yield great success. I am grateful to God for my grandmother. She endured a lot when she came to the United States, leaving her husband and her children behind, to embark on a new and better life for all of us. I have never taken her experiences lightly because she instilled in us a sense of purpose, pride, and faith in God. Her trials led to the success of the family, including grandchildren and great grandchildren. My grandmother always delighted herself in the Lord, and she did receive the desires of her heart.

I implore you this week, take time to be grateful for everything, for waking up in the morning, for being in your right mind, for friends and family, especially family. Start journaling, if you have not already started, about being grateful. Record the simple things and the bigger, more noticeable things. Watch how the process will begin to change your life.

We love to hear from you, please tell us some things that you are grateful or thankful for.

Be Triumphant,

Mix Maven

Entice With Delight

I am Sensual Element and it’s a pleasure to welcome you to Pumps and Gloss!

My role with Pumps and Gloss is to rejuvenate, inspire and encourage. Sometimes we have sexual inhibitions deep inside that we need to discover and begin the journey of sexual healing. My goal is to encourage you to try something different rejuvenate your sensual side and inspire you to “BRING YOUR SEXY BACK.” Let me say first, I am not an expert in the field. This is all in good fun. I know what works for one person may not work for others. So with this being said, LET THE FUN BEGIN!

Ladies, have you ever thought about giving that someone special a Striptease or Lap Dance. However, you are not sure if you can really get through the intro of the song. Fear not!! Pick up Carmen Electra’s Aerobic Striptease. I have heard rave reviews about Carmen’s DVD. This way if you are shy, you are in the comfort of your own home. Otherwise, look for studios that may offer classes in Strip tease, pole dancing and lap dancing. I have tried strip tease (it was called fit tease) and it was lots of fun and excellent exercise. You will feel sexy and rejuvenated. I will admit that I was hesitant about trying out fit tease, but once I started, I turned into a totally different person. Something will come over you and you will start to gyrate and move like never before. I will post websites of studios that offer classes. If you know about some classes being offered, please make sure you let us know so that we can make it known to others in your hometown.

So ladies, come on and “shake what your momma gave you” or better yet “drop it like it’s hot.”

Mix it Up

Welcome friends to Pumps and Gloss.
Amy Winehouse (Source: Londonist.com)

Allow me to introduce myself; my name is Mix Maven. For the most part I love fusion, which is evident in my music taste. I enjoy listening to Amy Winehouse because she marries jazz, 50s and 60s Motown melodies with contemporary lyrics. India.Arie is another favorite because she fuses soul and RnB with folk, country and  with anything else she pleases. One of my favorite gospel artists is Richard Smallwood because he mixes Classical music with modern Gospel. I love that these musicians think outside of the musical box. Oftentimes, they enlighten and energize us. They enlighten us about the deep spiritual importance of Total Praise, why forgiveness is very necessary, and that getting help for issues that plague us should be at the forefront of bettering ourselves.

Today, let us all go back to the drawing board and change the negative energy that we release into the universe and replace the energy with positivity. The key step in changing our outlook is the act of forgiveness. We need to begin to forgive ourselves and others, so that we can begin the healing process. I am not speaking idle chatter, we need to contact people that have wronged us and forgive them. Please let Pumps and Gloss know of any breakthroughs that you have made because of your decision to forgive others. Make 2007 the year that we get it together.

Let the healing begin,

Mix Maven
